As a commission based furniture maker, creating speculative work can be either exhilarating or terrifying! There was no concrete concept for this piece beyond, "maybe I'll make a walnut mirror..."
By chance, I learned there was going to be another walnut mirror in the show. Switching gears, I rummaged around the shop to see what leftover material I could "use up" from past projects. A board of straight grained ash, a stick of wenge and just enough wenge veneer served as ingredients...
